Congressionally-created charity raises private funds for land conservation.
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) announced a $11.1 million cooperative five-year agreement with the Foundation for America’s Public Lands under the Inflation Reduction Act. The foundation, which was authorized by Congress in 2017 and created in 2022, has worked to raise private funds to support the 245 million acres of U.S. public lands. This funding will be used to steward the water levels of the Colorado River.
“Westerners rely on clean, cold water for everything from drinking to fishing to running businesses,” said BLM Director Tracy Stone-Manning. “We’re so pleased to work with the Foundation for America’s public lands to leverage these critical funds to Invest in America and the health of our public lands and waters in the Colorado River basin.”
